OUR STORY

4th Generation Family-Owned Farm

Beginning in the early 1900s we have been raising livestock for nearly a century. Over the years our family has raised dairy cattle, beef cattle, pigs, and sheep on our rural North Dakota farm. Today, we raise Simmental & Angus cattle along with crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat.

ABOUT LAZY L LIVESTOCK

Our brand is something we stand behind. Made up of a 'lazy' L under a half circle, it reminds us of our beginnings. Our farm was purchased in the early 1900s by my Great-Grandfather Ervin. Upon purchasing, we were fortunate to receive the photo above of how our farm looked in days past. Painted across the red barn are the words "Lake View Stock Farm". We took the 'L' from that phrase to incorporate into our brand to always remember where it all started. Every cow we own wears this brand on her side.

Locally-Grown &

Grain-Finished Beef

with no added hormones

We greatly care for our cattle from the day they enter this world on our farm to the day they leave. Right from birth, calves are given extra vitamins and minerals to boost their health and well-being. Over the course of their life they are vaccinated to prevent any illnesses, and in the case an animal becomes sick we treat them with an antibiotic to help them recover quickly. Our cattle also do not receive any additional implants/hormones to aid in faster weight gain.

We strive to raise cattle that are calm and easy on the eyes. We've found that the cross-breeding of Simmental and Angus cattle make for a mother cow that we really like. She's docile, easily maintained on the feed we provide her, and raises heavily-muscled calves to help nourish many people across the region. Over 90% of the feed that the cattle eat throughout the portion of their life is also raised on our farm and neighboring farms, so it's safe to say our beef is as locally-produced as it gets.
